Batu Caves

We arrived at about 1 pm, probably the hottest part of the day. Silly, silly...

13 km north of Kuala Lumpur, the Batu Caves contain several Hindu temples. The 42.7 m statue of Muruga was completed in 2006.

272 steps lead to the the Temple Cave, which was unfortunately closed when we arrived. Silly, silly... I'll have to come back here if I visit Malaysia again.

Numerous monkeys run up and down the staircase, scavenging for food.

At the bottom of the hill is a colourful temple. It reminds me a little of a theme park.

With their big eyes, bright colours and muscular bodies, some statues of the gods look like Japanese manga characters.

This 15 m statue of Hanuman (a monkey) is quite cute.
